NMF Senior Associate Fellow Addresses Critical Maritime Infrastructure Seminar in Rome

Mr Soham Agarwal, Senior Associate Fellow at the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), participated in the Peer to Peer Seminar on Critical Maritime Infrastructure in Rome, where he shared perspectives on the protection and resilience of undersea cables, pipelines, and other critical underwater infrastructure.

Highlighting the importance of these systems to the functioning of the global economy, Mr Agarwal emphasised that safeguarding critical maritime infrastructure requires effective public-private partnerships and cannot remain the responsibility of governments alone.

He also drew an important distinction between the protection of maritime infrastructure and its resilience, underscoring the need for frameworks that not only prevent and mitigate threats but also strengthen the capacity of critical systems to withstand disruption and recover effectively.

The interaction further explored potential areas of cooperation between India and the European Union in strengthening critical maritime infrastructure security and building resilient maritime networks.
