The National Maritime Foundation (NMF) hosted a high-level delegation from Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in New Delhi on 6 May 2026 for discussions on shared strategic interests and the evolving security environment in the Indian Ocean Region.
The delegation comprised Mr Bruce Soar, Assistant Secretary, Indian Ocean and South Asia Maritime Branch; Ms Carly Partridge, Minister Counsellor (Policy); and Ms Grace Williams, First Secretary (Political). The delegation engaged with Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, Director General, NMF, and senior NMF Fellows.
Discussions focused on the evolving trajectory of India–Australia maritime cooperation, the implications of developments in West Asia for regional security, vulnerabilities within energy supply chains, and freedom of navigation across critical sea lanes in the Indian Ocean.
