NMF Hosts First Round Table Conference of Seventh Admiral AK Chatterji Fellowship Project 2026–2027

The National Maritime Foundation (NMF) hosted the first Round Table Conference of the Admiral AK Chatterji Fellowship Project 2026–2027 on 29 July 2026. The session featured a presentation by Commodore PSS Uday Kiran, PhD, DACIDS ‘Research B’, Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, on his research titled “Challenges in Securing India’s Maritime Trade and Energy Routes to Facilitate Economic Progress”.

The presentation examined the critical dependence of India’s trade, energy security, food security, and economic growth upon secure maritime routes. It highlighted the strategic challenges associated with safeguarding India’s maritime trade and energy supply chains in an increasingly complex regional and global environment.

Discussant remarks were delivered by Dr Vishwapati Trivedi, IAS (Retd), followed by a vibrant audience interaction. Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, AVSM & Bar, VSM, IN (Retd), Director General, NMF, delivered the welcome and closing remarks.

The conference contributed to informed dialogue on maritime security, maritime trade, energy-route security, and India’s wider strategic and economic interests.
