Programme Details
The fourth Diginar in the KAS (India office)-TERI-NMF-FICCI Series on “Blue Economy-India’s’ Pathway to a Sustainable, Secure and Resilient Economy”, will be held from 1030h to 1700h, on Friday, 18 December, 2020.
To continue the robust discussion on the above central theme, this Diginar will focus on “Deconstructing Blue Economy in the Indo-Pacific “.
Background
It is evident that Holistic Maritime Security and Blue Economy, being oceanic centric, have an intrinsic link. Holistic Maritime Security issues, whether considered hard or soft, traditional or non-traditional impact the Blue Economy of nations, including landlocked nations, with spin-offs at the regional and global levels. Therefore, in order to pursue a sustainable and secure Blue Economy there is a need to ensure a stable, secure and peaceful Maritime Environment. Oceans are not restricted by any boundaries and with the Indo-Pacific gaining traction, India’s Act East Policy, Concept of SAGAR, and the more recent Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) there is a need to look beyond the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and explore the Indo-Pacific Region (IOR). This diginar will put in place the interlinkages between Holistic Maritime Security and the Blue Economy in the IPR, of which the IOR is an important part.
