A delegation from the National Maritime Foundation, led by Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, AVSM & Bar, VSM (Retd), Director-General, held a substantive exchange in Singapore with Dr Vivek Jain, Master Mariner and Director (Marine Services and Compliance), ALCO.
The discussions centred on contemporary developments in international maritime law, evolving regulatory frameworks, and the growing complexity of compliance requirements across the Indo-Pacific maritime domain. Particular attention was paid to the implications of regulatory harmonisation, enforcement challenges, and the role of maritime governance in ensuring stability and predictability in regional waters.
Both sides also explored pathways to strengthen research collaboration and institutional engagement between India and Southeast Asia. Potential areas of cooperation include joint research initiatives, co-convened dialogues, expert exchanges, and capacity-building efforts aimed at deepening understanding of maritime governance and regulatory practices.
The engagement reflects the National Maritime Foundation’s continued commitment to fostering strategic maritime partnerships and promoting informed policy dialogue across the Indo-Pacific.
