NMF Participates in Global Summit on Blue Economy: Ports, Petroleum and Trade Corridors in Focus

The National Maritime Foundation engaged with key stakeholders at the Global Summit on Blue Economy, organised by the BCKIC Foundation and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.

Representing the Foundation, Dr Chime Youdon participated in a high-level dialogue on ports, petroleum, and maritime trade corridors. The session brought together a diverse set of stakeholders from government, industry, and academia to examine the future of India’s maritime connectivity and economic growth.

The panel included Usha Padhee, Chairperson of IDCO; Subrat Tripathy, President at the Adani Group; Ashok Mahapatra, Former Director at the International Maritime Organization; Shishir Shrotriya from the Research and Information System for Developing Countries; and N Jena from the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University.

The discussion explored the evolving role of ports and maritime trade corridors in driving economic growth, energy security, and regional connectivity. It also addressed the need to align infrastructure expansion with environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Collectively, the panel articulated a vision for India’s maritime frontiers that balances economic dynamism with ecological responsibility, underscoring the importance of integrated policy frameworks and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The engagement reflects the National Maritime Foundation’s continued commitment to contributing to high-level policy dialogue on sustainable maritime development and the blue economy.
