The National Maritime Foundation (NMF) was honoured to have Captain K S Vikramaditya, Senior Fellow, NMF, deliver an in-depth session for 30 officials from Mauritius, Seychelles, the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Secretariat, and the Sardar Swaran Singh Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), as part of the Special Course on Functional Competencies for Smarter Diplomacy.
The session examined the evolving landscape of defence and security cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region, with focused discussions on Maritime Domain Awareness, coastal security, anti-piracy measures, capacity building, and capability enhancement. The engagement highlighted the growing convergence between maritime diplomacy and hard security imperatives in an increasingly complex regional environment.
Through such academic and capacity-building initiatives, the National Maritime Foundation continues to strengthen regional partnerships and contribute to the advancement of a secure, resilient, and rules-based maritime order in the Indian Ocean Region.
