Bio - Profile

Ms Arijita Sinha Roy is presently working as a Junior Research Associate at the National Maritime Foundation (NMF). She specialises in regional maritime security of India with a focus on geostrategic imperatives the two Koreas within a broader Indo-Pacific framework. Prior to the NMF, she has worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS) from 2022 to February 2025, where she conducted in-depth research on Northeast Asian security and Indo-Pacific geopolitics.

Ms Roy is the recipient of ‘Non-Resident Research Fellow’ at the Korea Institute of Maritime Strategy (KIMS), South Korea, where she aims to create synergies between geostrategies of India and South Korea vis a vis the maritime domain. Further, a recipient of the prestigious Diploma on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) from the 11th Yeosu Academy, 2024. Ms. Roy possesses a robust understanding of international maritime governance. She holds a Masters in East Asian Studies from the University of Delhi and has cultivated expertise in security dynamics and geopolitical strategy.

She has published with CENJOWS, Modern Diplomacy, and the Institute of Security and Development Policy, Sweden on various vexed geopolitical questions while presenting her analytical knowledge on defence and security issues of South Korea to the Japan Joint Staff College delegation at CENJOWS in 2023 and on the legal status of Unmanned Maritime Vehicles during the Yeosu Alumni Program in 2024. Her analytical acumen and scholarly rigor contribute to her insights in the evolving maritime security challenges with an aim to shape strategic discourse on maritime affairs in the Indo-Pacific while reinforcing India’s position in the regional security architecture.
