Admiral A K Chatterji Fellowship Marks Milestone with Release of Publication on Underwater Robotics

Instituted in 2011 by the family of Admiral A K Chatterji, PVSM, AVSM, former Chief of the Naval Staff (1966–1970), the Admiral A K Chatterji Fellowship was conceived to promote forward-looking maritime research and address India’s long-standing challenge of maritime awareness.

The sixth fellowship project has culminated in the release of a significant publication titled Underwater Robotics: Engineering and Applications, authored by Commodore Amit Ray. The book was formally released by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, PVSM, AVSM, NM, Chief of the Naval Staff, marking an important step in strengthening India’s maritime technological capabilities and domain awareness.

The publication reflects Admiral Chatterji’s enduring vision of maritime thinking that is innovative, strategically grounded, and future-oriented. Through this Fellowship, the National Maritime Foundation continues to foster maritime thought leadership, bridging legacy with emerging technologies and advancing India’s maritime innovation ecosystem.
