Commodore Jai Bedi is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, and was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 July 1994.  A Navigation and Direction specialist, he has commanded IN Ranvijay and INS Vinash, and has also served as the Executive Officer of INS Trishul.  His staff appointments include two tenures each at NHQ (DSR/DNCO) and HQSFC.  He has been an instructor at ND School and Directing Staff at DSSC.

He has undergone Staff Course at DSSC, NHCC at Naval War College, Goa, and NDC at Dhaka, Bangladesh.  He holds four Master’s degrees, two in Science, one each in Social Science and Philosophy.  He is an avid reader.
