Experience: An economist, administrator and an expert on shipping/mining/aviation and logistics, Dr. Vishwapati Trivedi is the former Union Secretary in the Ministry of Shipping and the Ministry of Mines. He is an economics honours graduate of St. Stephens College, completed his MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and has a PhD in International Economics from the Simon Fraser University, Canada. He is also a law graduate and a registered advocate.

Dr Trivedi has held various positions in the government and abroad in his long career with the government spanning 45 years. He was the Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Airlines and Joint Managing director of Air India. He also served at the International Monetary Fund, Washington D.C. as the Adviser to the Executive Director. He has a rich experience in maritime and shipping sectors, having been Chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India and then headed the premier policy advisory authority, the National Shipping Board, besides being the Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India.

He has been a visiting faculty to the World Maritime University. Dr. Trivedi has a very wide experience in the field of  domestic and international arbitrations. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Indian Council of Arbitration. Dr. Trivedi also advises the Logistics Sector Skill Council, under the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India.
