On the  day of 15th February 2005, the foundation was ceremoniously inaugurated by Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the esteemed Raksha Mantri at that time, who would later ascend to the distinguished position of the Hon’ble President of the Republic of India.

In addition, Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest for the Vice Admiral K K Nayyar Memorial Lecture, the Hon’ble President of India eloquently delivered the Inaugural address, lending his eminence and wisdom to the event.

About Shri Pranab Mukherjee

Shri Pranab Mukherjee, a prominent Indian statesman and politician, was born on December 11, 1935, in Mirati village, West Bengal, India. He had a remarkable political career spanning over five decades and held various significant positions in the Indian government.

Mukherjee was an astute scholar, earning his Master’s degree in Political Science and History from the University of Calcutta. He was associated with the Indian National Congress, one of India’s major political parties, throughout his political journey.

His political career commenced in the early 1960s when he served as an upper house member of the Rajya Sabha (the Council of States) in the Indian Parliament. Over the years, he held several key ministerial positions, showcasing his expertise and versatility.

Notably, Pranab Mukherjee served as the Minister of Finance from 1982 to 1984, during which he played a crucial role in initiating economic reforms. He was also the Minister of External Affairs from 1995 to 1996 and again from 2006 to 2009, handling India’s diplomatic relations on the international stage.

In 2012, Pranab Mukherjee achieved the highest honor of his political career when he was elected as the 13th President of India. He served as the President from July 25, 2012, to July 25, 2017. During his presidency, he upheld the values of the Indian Constitution and worked to strengthen India’s ties with other nations.

Pranab Mukherjee was known for his statesmanship, intellect, and dedication to the nation. He passed away on August 31, 2020, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to India’s progress. His contributions to the nation continue to be remembered and respected by people from all walks of life.
