About the Speaker
Roger Chi-feng Liu is Senior Research Fellow at the Research Institute for Democracy, Social and Emerging Technology (DSET) funded by Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), the organ governing the national science policy. Dr. Liu is also associate professor of international politics with the Department of Social Sciences at FLAME University, and the founding chair of the Centre for South and Southeast Asia Studies (CSSAS FLAME).
Professor Liu earned his Ph.D. in political science from University of South Carolina, and his research areas span political geography, the geopolitics of technology, armed conflicts, great power politics, India in the Indo-Pacific, and politics of China.
Professor Liu has had extensive interactions with leading think tanks in India and abroad such as the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), the Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS), and the Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation (TAEF) in Taiwan.
Dr. Liu is the recipient of 2021’s Taiwan Studies Project in India, a national research project funded by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan to promote studies in social sciences and humanities between Taiwan and foreign countries.
Professor Liu’s commentaries and interviews have also been published on major Indian and Taiwanese newspapers and news portals. He is also a frequent participants on news programs for channels such as CNN News-18, News X, Republic TV, Sansad TV (India), TVBS and the Mirror TV (Taiwan).
