About the Speaker:
Mr Abinash Mohanty is the Global Sector Head of Climate Change and Sustainability at IPE Global — an international development organisation working across 15 geographies, including Africa and South Asia. He is a reviewer of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) sixth assessment report (AR6): Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability and also a member of the Resource Advisory Group of NABARD and a member of the National Steering Committee on Climate Change for the Government of India. His work is focused on climate change risk assessment and adaptation solutions for concerned stakeholders, with a special focus on community-led actions. He has led research on climate risks and adaptations for multilateral, intergovernmental organisations and devised the first-of-its-kind Climate Vulnerability Index for India. He was the Founding Centre Director at the Centre for Environment, Energy and Climate Change under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, where he pursued and led intense research on climate finance, climate change risks, agricultural risk assessment, water resources management, disaster economics, climate change governance, and allied issues. He is also a member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). He has presented in many national and international forums. His columns also feature and are widely read in various Indian national and international dailies.
