Dr Mona Chhabra Anand — Director-Research and Knowledge Management, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), New Delhi — spoke on “Social and Health Infrastructure Resilience” in Professional Session One – “India’s Coastal Resilience: Challenges”, on Day One of the Vice Admiral KK Nayyar Fellowship Conference 2023.

About the Speaker:

Dr Mona Chhabra Anand is a Director at the Research and Knowledge Management (RKM) Wing of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), New Delhi. Prior to joining the CDRI, Dr Anand served as the Country Programme Lead in India for the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC). As part of several working groups of the Government of India, Dr Anand has been extensively involved in strengthening institutional capacities for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery that have resulted in progressive policy initiatives for safe and sustainable development. She has also worked with the UNICEF, UNDP, IIT Delhi, and civil society on developing process innovations in this direction. Trained as an architect and development planner, Dr Anand has been involved in policy development and the practice of safe and sustainable habitat development in South Asia. Through this process, she has leveraged research and knowledge-based initiatives to inform policy decisions mainly within South Asia. Dr Anand holds a PhD in Disaster Resilience from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
