Dr Deepak Samuel V — Scientist ‘E’ & Project Lead, Conservation of Coastal and Marine Resources Division (CMR), National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai — spoke on “Ecologically Sensitive Areas: Legal Frameworks” in Professional Session Two – “Coastal Resilience: Analysing India’s Current Policy Framework”, on Day Two of the Vice Admiral KK Nayyar Fellowship Conference 2023.

About the Speaker:

Dr Deepak Samuel V completed his graduation in Zoology and post-graduation in Marine Biology and Oceanography and obtained his doctorate degree in the same subject in the year 2004. He is the Scientist “E” and project lead at the Conservation of Coastal and Marine Resources Division (CMR), a division of the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai. To his credentials, he has given 81 invited talks, 45 seminars and conferences, and he was also the guest editor of the journal Wetland Ecology and Management. He has authored 21 books/manuals/chapters and more than 51 papers, many in the process of completion. To add to his stints, he had also joined Eritrean Institute of Technology, Eritrea, as Assistant Professor and later, Madras Christian College, Chennai.
