Bio - Profile

Eram Mahtab is a Research Associate with the Public International Maritime Law (PIML) Cluster at the National Maritime Foundation (NMF). She is a lawyer with a masters’ degree in International and Area Studies. She did her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from the Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj in 2016, and her M.A. (Politics: International and Area Studies) from MMAJ Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.

Eram has done a six-month internship programme at the National Maritime Foundation in the Autex-2024 batch. Herein, she participated in the NMF workshop on ‘Unlock ocean-based solutions to climate change’ in collaboration with Nausicaa, the European Commission, and EuroOcean as part of the Ocean Citizen series. She also did a Certificate Course on Exclusive Economic Zone Protection Officers’ Course organized by the Royal Navy, UK. She has also published a book review during her internship titled ‘The Free Sea: The American Fight for Freedom of Navigation’

Eram is currently focusing her research on Public International Maritime Law, particularly on the themes of UNLCOS and the Laws of Naval Warfare.
