National Maritime Foundation and King’s College London Sign MoU to Establish the Regional Maritime Security Centre for Excellence

The National Maritime Foundation (NMF), India’s premier maritime think tank, and King’s College London (KCL), one of the world’s leading academic institutions, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Regional Maritime Security Centre for Excellence (RMSCE) at the National Maritime Foundation in New Delhi.

The establishment of the RMSCE marks a significant step towards advancing maritime security research, capacity building, policy dialogue, and academic collaboration across the Indo-Pacific and beyond. The Centre will serve as a platform for fostering knowledge exchange between scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and maritime stakeholders, while addressing contemporary and emerging challenges in the maritime domain.

The collaboration combines NMF’s extensive expertise in maritime affairs and strategic studies with KCL’s globally recognised academic excellence in security studies, international relations, and defence research. Through joint research initiatives, specialised training programmes, conferences, workshops, and policy engagement, the RMSCE aims to contribute to a secure, stable, and prosperous maritime environment.

The Centre will focus on key themes including maritime security, maritime governance, maritime domain awareness, emerging technologies, capacity building, international maritime law, and regional cooperation. By promoting interdisciplinary research and collaborative engagement, the RMSCE seeks to generate innovative solutions to complex maritime challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region.

This partnership reflects the shared commitment of the National Maritime Foundation and King’s College London to strengthening international cooperation, enhancing maritime resilience, and supporting informed policymaking in an increasingly interconnected maritime world.
