Captain Yogendra Prakash Sharma was commissioned into the Executive Branch of Indian Navy on 01 Jan 1995 and has specialised in Signal Communications and Electronic Warfare. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Naval War College and Signal School.

As a specialist, he has served on board IN ships Viraat, Betwa and Kora and has also been the Commanding Officer of a Seward Defence Vessel. He has also served in operational/ staff appointments ashore which include staff tenures at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy), Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff and Communication Network Centre (Delhi). He was also instrumental in the raising of Armed Forces Special Operations Division (AFSOD) as Joint Director (Cyber).

His training assignments include Instructional Staff at the National Defence Academy, Naval Training Base at INS Chilka, 3 Naval NCC Unit at Lucknow and a deputation tenure at Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM) under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoP&T). For over a decade, he has served as a guest faculty member and speaker at prominent Central Training Institutes and establishments across the nation, including those in Delhi. His engagements have included esteemed institutions such as Indian Institute of Public Administration, National Postal Academy, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi Judicial Academy, National Thermal Power Corporation, Central Information Commission, Competition Commission, CRPF and CBI Academy etc.

He is currently appointed at the National Maritime Foundation, New Delhi, as Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director.

He holds Masters degrees in Telecommunications, Human Resource Management and Public Administration. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and a diploma in Training and Development.
