Since its establishment in 2013 by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG), the International Centre for Environment Audit and Sustainable Development (iCED) has been a Global Training Facility (GTF) of the INTOSAI Working Group on Environment Auditing (WGEA), effective from March 2011. It is also the GTF of INTOSAI Working Group on Extractive Industries (WGEI) since August 2016. It has further been a pivotal centre of SAI India to conduct extensive capacity building, both nationally and internationally.

iCED undertakes research related to audit processes, including on the governance structures related to the environment and sustainable Development.
