About the Speaker

Dr Nadiarti Nurdin Kadir is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Universitas Hasanuddin in Makassar, Indonesia. She graduated from the Fisheries Department of Universitas Hasanuddin in 1990, earned an MSc in Marine Environmental Protection from Bangor University in Wales, UK in 1996, and a PhD in Natural Resources and Environmental Management from IPB University in Bogor, Indonesia in 2012.

A lecturer at Universitas Hasanuddin since 1991, she is serving as Head of Study Program of Aquatic Resource Management since 2019, Secretary of the Centre of Excellence for Marine Resilience and Sustainable Development (MarSave CoE) since 2017, and Head of the Learning Centre for Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (LC-EAFM) since 2019.

With a special interest in coastal ecology, her research and publications have focused on tropical coastal species and ecosystems, addressing multiple aspects from species-level biology and ecology to ecosystem conservation and restoration, and from biodiversity exploration to sustainable use. Her recent publications include: Seagrass density correlates with burrow abundance and size in the Zebra Mantis Shrimp (Stomatopoda: Lysiosquillidae) in Revista de Biología Tropical; Variation in the behaviour of an obligate corallivore is influenced by resource availability, in Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology; Ecology of seagrass beds in Sulawesi—Multifunctional key habitats at the risk of destruction, in Science for the Protection of Indonesian Coastal Ecosystems (SPICE); Restored seagrass beds support Macroalgae and Sea Urchin communities, in IOP Conf.
