Located in the east coast of India in the southern provincial state of Andhra Pradesh, the coastal city of Visakhapatnam is the largest city in the state. The city serves as the headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), has the fifth busiest port in India in terms of cargo handled, has the Visakhapatnam steel plant, refineries, the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), has the only submarine museum in the entire South Asia, and houses the only natural harbour in the east coast of India.

Regional Director,Vizag Chapter:
Prof A Prasanna Kumar was the first Regional Director of this Chapter from September 1,2009 to August 31,2012. Prof.Dr Rao Tatavarti was the second Regional Director. The present Regional Director is Ms.G.Padmaja. who was appointed in August 2015
Regional Director (National Maritime Foundation, Vizag Chapter)
She was formerly a Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi. She has also been a Visiting Research Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament and Research (UNIDIR), Geneva, Switzerland.
