A NEW BEGINNING FOR ‘CODE OF CONDUCT’ IN SOUTH CHINA SEA: IS ONE REQUIRED FOR THE INDIAN OCEAN?

On 06 August 2017, the foreign ministers from the ASEAN and China met in Manila, and adopted the "Framework of the code of conduct (CoC) in the South China Sea”. The framework is meant to lead eventually to the CoC comprising a set of rules outlining certain norms, proper practices and responsibilities of all those involved in maritime activities in the SCS.
