About the Book

For both India and Sri Lanka, the surrounding maritime environment continues to contribute to determining their national destinies. Both the countries have a strong interest in each other's well-being. The primary area of focus of the book lies on the prospects for mutually beneficial collaboration in the sustainable exploitation of their living and non-living maritime resources. The pertinent operational aspects and institutional mechanisms are examined. The contribution of both countries towards furthering maritime safety and pollution control are also studied. Keeping these points in view, the book deals with, firstly the outlook and prognostic view of strategic maritime cooperation from both Indian and Sri Lankan perspectives. Sectoral avenues for building partnerships in the fields of offshore oil & gas, maritime infrastructure and marine resource exploitation are explored.
